Skwer.eu is a powerful idea put into the form of architectural project. A simple response to existing situation – total lack of urban sports friendly places in Warsaw, combined with a skyrocketing demand for such space in the city – became a statement project of Polish young generation’s fine architects and many other parties. We are willing to create a quality public space for every generation of urban sportsmen. We are strongly convinced, that the space shall serve the citizens for sportsmanship, cultural and integration purposes and be planned within a framework of open discussion and collaborative development process. We consult neighbors, city officials and future users to select and plan the functionalities within a framework of cross-generation urban sports, culture and integration. We invite most respected professionals in all disciplines to participate and create training facilities of their dreams. One year after its founding by a single person, Skwer attracted many of Polish urban sports luminaries, creating an unprecedented movement towards meeting the challenges of Warsaw urban life. Among 3300 Warsaw citizens surveyed by far, more than 70% consider the project necessary and look forward to its further development.
